#WomanCrushWednesday: Megan McKenna

It’s been a while since I’ve had a Woman Crush Wednesday, and I thought it would be fitting to have someone who has sincerely won my heart. The beautiful, albeit slightly terrifying Megan McKenna!

I watched the first series of Ex on the Beach when it was first on, and I thought it was good TV. Trashy, entertaining, but altogether a bit forgettable. So I never actually saw her debut in series 3. My first encounter with Megan McKenna was her stint on Celebrity Big Brother.

At first, I thought she was just another random hot girl who was going to be a bitch, but by the end of her 18 day stay in the Big Bro house, I was gutted that she was evicted! To most she’s just a ditsy, reality TV/glamour model who knows how to throw a tantrum, but she’s so much more than that!

Yes, she can be feisty, but all the times she ‘kicked off’ in the house were completely justified and I probably would have reached a breaking point similar to hers (although I don’t think I would have been quite as full on!). She’s a strong woman who knows how to stand up for herself when she needs to (or when she’s drunk!). She also seemed incredibly genuine and grounded, just a nice, normal girl with good values. It’s nice to see someone be so real in a situation that can often bring on a heightened sense of reality. Not to mention the fact she is stunning, especially after the launch night where she was all made up with big hair, full face of make-up and tanned like a brown leather sofa. She looks beautiful with her hair up in a bun and little to no make up on.

After she was evicted, my sister and I started watching Ex on the Beach, eagerly awaiting series 3 to have our Megan McKenna fix! And once again, she does not disappoint! Her choice in men may have been questionable, and she may have been a bit rowdier than her CBB appearance, but it made me love her even more! She reminds me of the friends I made in uni, who I had to pull out of drunken fights that had started for no reason (that was when they weren’t doing the same for me!).

I’m just finishing up series 3 and I’m so excited to know she’ll be back for series 4!

• Megan is really into her singing, and has taken part in singing competitions as well as uploading videos to her YouTube channel.
• Her aspirational singing career has lead her to perform in front of Simon Cowell on  Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor.
• Essex girl at heart, she has even appeared in TOWIE  when she auditioned to be in Jess Wright’s girl group LOLA.
• Apart from Gemma Collins, Megan is quite close with some other TOWIE stars such as Danielle Armstrong and James Lock. Two of her best friends have just joined the cast for the new series. Megan, PLEASE GET ON TOWIE!!

 

#WomanCrushWednesday: Rita Ora

I’d taken a little break from Woman Crush Wednesday (mostly because I find that I have more fun writing about Man Crush Monday :-P), but I have found an urge to return thanks to Miss Rita Ora.

Confession time: I am one of those people whose life is probably dictated a little too much by The X Factor. When it starts in August, it feels like the countdown to Christmas has begun. When Tulisa was a judge, I downloaded all of N-Dubz albums. And this is all without even starting on my Cheryl fascination! So when Rita was confirmed to be joining the show, the seed was planted.

In my defense, I’m not that terribly fickle! I was already a fan of hers! I’ve always liked her music; and Rita would show up to the opening of an envelope, so I always see her on red carpets and at awards shows (My husband and I often discuss her provocative outfits!).

But what’s the secret to her appeal and why is she my #WCW?

Sex, Sex, Sex!

The thing about Rita Ora is that she is just one very sexy lady. She oozes sex appeal! And if you are to believe the stories about her in the press and from the lips of former flings, whether true or not, she has garnered a sexual reputation for herself! But good on her for simply ignoring the criticism and playing up her flirty, sensual side. She’s hot and she knows it!

She’s a Working Girl!

It cannot be said that Rita doesn’t work hard for her money and fame. Music is just the tip of the iceberg! Modelling, television, endorsement deals, films (you all saw her brief cameo in Fifty Shades of Grey), you name it, she’s doing it! As well as being a master of time, it appears Miss Ora has somehow mastered the art of teleportation. One minute she’s in The UK doing X Factor, the next she’s doing a talk show in America, and after that she’s in Korea filming for Samsung! There clearly aren’t enough hours in the day for this girl, and her work ethic is definitely something to be admired.

She Has The X Factor!

It’s not just about convincing the general public you’ve got talent, you’ve got to convince the entertainment industry that you’ve got ‘it’. And Rita has definitely made an impact since her breakthrough. Securing four UK number one singles and a number one debut album, she’s shown just how marketable a brand she can be. But numbers aside, Rita is also very likeable and captivating. She’s like your best friend from school that you never wanted to cross because she can be a bit of a psycho!

Rita Ora is a force to be reckoned with! A sexy, smart, and hard-working woman who knows who she is and what she wants in life. That kind of confidence and determination is attractive on anyone, but when they come from someone as stunning as Rita, it’s enough to make your knees weak! And I love the fact that she parties as hard as she works, as she’s never one to miss an event!  Rita has the potential to be a global star, and she won’t stop until she’s placed her flag on every continent.

• Rita auditioned to be the British contestant for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009, but dropped out when she thought it could harm her chances of being a successful solo artist (Thank god for that!)
• At the age of 19 she was able to convince Jay-Z to sign her to his record label less than 48 hours after meeting him!
• Rita has been romantically linked to many male celebs, including Rob Kardashian, Bruno Mars and Calvin Harris.
• She loves tabasco sauce so much, she carries a bottle around with her everywhere she goes.
• Rita recently starred alongside Jake Gyllenhall in Southpaw, where she played a battered drug addict. Her acting skills were praised by both Jake and the movie’s producer Harvey Weinstein.

 

#WomanCrushWednesday: Cara Delevingne

So this is a new feature I’d like to post on a weekly basis, where I choose my #WCW (Woman Crush Wednesday) and give my reasons why I think she’s so hot! It was tricky for me to decide who should be the first #WCW, but I finally narrowed it down to the beautiful Cara Delevingne.

Cara is a British model and actress, who has lead fashion campaigns for Topshop, and was the most Googled and reblogged model on Tumblr in 2013.

Here are 3 reasons why she is my woman crush:

REASON 1: THE EYEBROWS

Cara’s eyebrows give me life! Usually I never give eyebrows that much consideration (except when I see the occasional drawn on sharpie brows that make me cringe). But her eyebrows are so majestic, and so iconic that I don’t think I would recognise her if she didn’t have them. They draw attention to her beautiful face, a face that I wouldn’t necessarily consider a conventional beauty, and most importantly, they get people talking about her. Some people love it, some people hate it, but I definitely fall into the former category!

REASON 2: THE ATTITUDE

If you weren’t familiar with her before, you might be now, because of a recent controversial interview. British Cara was doing a US TV interview on Good Morning Sacramento to promote her new film ‘Paper Towns’, and she was (wrongfully) called out for being in a mood. When they asked her if she read the book, she jokingly said she hadn’t read the book or the script, that she just ‘winged it’. Since then, some have backed her, saying the interviewers just didn’t understand her sarcastic sense of humour, others have criticised her for being a ‘diva’. Cara’s response? Well, honestly she couldn’t give a flying.

Personally, I enjoy sarcasm and people who don’t take themselves very seriously. Whenever she is given a chance through her modelling work, she loves to show of a playful, rebellious side, by pulling faces and rocking some bad girl get-up. It’s all a part of her charm.

REASON 3: THE POTENTIAL

Despite being well known and an established model in the fashion world, she is a relatively newcomer to the world of acting. But I have a feeling that her acting career is really going to take off. She recently released ‘Paper Towns’ and she will be in ‘Suicide Squad’ next year, not to mention a handful of other films she has been working on that are yet to be released. Her charisma and beauty translate wonderfully into moving pictures, and if she manages to keep the acting work steady she could become a household name for a completely different reason.

• She has a cameo in Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ video (along with half of the female population)

• She has been on the cover of Vogue in the UK (3 times!), the US, Brazil, Australia, Korea, Japan and Portugal.
• Coincidentally, it’s her birthday today! Happy 23rd birthday, Cara! 🙂
